Women of the Christian Council of Togo mobilized around the International Women's Rights Day
The Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in West Africa (FECCIWA) organized a conference-debate on the theme "Mobilization of Christian Women for Participation in Public Governance", in Lomé on 8th of March 2018.
This meeting held on the International of Women's Rights Day was an opportunity for the participants to share their experiences on the right of women in their respective society. Twenty women from the International Pentecost Church, the Pentecost Church, the Church of the Assemblies of God, the Methodist Church, the Baptist Convention, and the Adventist Church attended this meeting. Were also present representatives from the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) and the World Council of Churches / EHAIA.
During the conference, FECCIWA strengthened women's capacities to further extend their voices in leadership and full participation in decision-making in church and society.
This conference is the first in a series of meetings that FECCIWA’s General Secretariat plans to hold with the leaders and members of the Churches of the Christian Council of Togo.
The “Thursdays in Black” campaign to raise awareness on violence against women was once again observed at FECCIWA.
