The Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in West Africa (FECCIWA) in partnership with the Protestant Methodist Church of Benin (EPMB) implement the Aflatoun International program. After the training of two pastors in March 2017, it has organized the training of trainers in 2018 for the monitors of the Sunday School and the children's service of the Protestant Methodist Church of Benin from 22th to 24th July 2018 at the home Centre of Nutritional Education and Community training of Dangbo, and from 6th to 10th August 2018 at Lycée Mafory Bangoura of Abomey. 110 monitors or instructors, and 13 Children from various regions of Benin have participated during the two training sessions.
The aim is to train and strengthen the teaching capacity of the instructors with the new Aflatoun children's education techniques.
The Reverend Fifamé Fidèle HOUSSOU GANDONOU and Matthieu AGOSSOU were the main trainers of the workshop. They were assisted by Mr. Chérif AMEGAN (Administrative and Financial Manager at ACCEAO) and Mr. Naftal GUAMBE (Program Officer at ACCEAO), with the support of Mr. Michael TETTEY.
The training session was articulated around the modules that are: introduction and general presentation, orientation, brainstorming including CVA grids, tree of life, image theater, problem tree, memory and dictation game, the groups of experts, the cubes and the poem tree, vote with his feet and respond with a ball, SWAOT teaching practice and SMART, interview skills. The trainers relied mainly on the training manual, employability skills and entrepreneurship skills for Aflatoun International's future leaders, even though they occasionally adapted this to the Christian context.
The participants have greatly appreciated the training and noticed that this new Aflatoun educational thought is really useful for the development of the child on all levels.
The specificity of ACCEAO is the adaptation of the Aflatoun program to the teaching of faith and the life of the church with children.
